Video Transcript for Review of Shocker Hitch Trailer Hitch Ball Mount - HD Air Hitch Cushioned Drawbar 2-1/2" - SHK24ZR

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com, and today we're gonna take a look at this Shocker Air HD Receiver Hitch with cushioned drawbar mount. This heavy duty shock absorbing hitch features an airbag and cushioned bump stops to provide a smooth and comfortable ride while limiting chucking and jerking to give you better control of your tow vehicle and trailer, helping to extend the life of your truck and trailer by protecting them from unnecessary wear and tear, and reducing noise and rattle that's common when towing with standard ball mounts. So this is going to fit your 2 1/2 inch hitch receiver, and this hooks your trailer to your tow vehicle with this included drawbar mount. This drawbar attachment has a one-inch hole to accommodate a variety of towing needs, and these bump stops are going to help soften jerking before it reaches the tow vehicle. So this is going to be perfect for towing your hay wagons, your anhydrous tanks, and other farm applications.

The mount itself is zinc-plated to prevent rust. And I do wanna point out that this is not designed to be used with a hitch ball, so just so you're aware of that. The maximum gross towing weight is 20,000 pounds with a tongue weight of 2,000 pounds. But you do wanna remember that a towing setup is always limited by its lowest rated component, whether that be your vehicle, your hitch, or another component. Now included are these two easy to remove pins with these large rings that are easy to grab.

And as you can see, I can fit four of my fingers through each of these rings. So they're gonna be very easy to hold onto and grab onto for when you're removing these and replacing these. So no more fumbling with small hitch pin heads. And then we also have these large safety clips that's going to make securing the pins easy and also removing them and replacing them very easy. So I'm gonna go ahead and remove our eclipse.

Now with this drawbar attachment, it can be a little bit difficult, depending on where you have this at, getting those clips in. So you might need just a little bit of patience with that, again, just so you're aware of that. But overall, this is going to be relatively easy to adjust while this is on the back of your vehicle. So I'm gonna go ahead and lower this just a little bit, so I'm gonna go ahead and remove our pins, drop this a little bit, line up my holes. And so as you can see, this goes in pretty smoothly, and I'm gonna go ahead and replace my clips.

You're gonna have a drop range from a half an inch to 3 1/2 inches. So I'm gonna go ahead and put my clips back in. And as you can see, I kinda have to work around here a little bit with this attachment, but it looks like we're gonna do just fine. So we're safe and secure and good to go. Now the width of our channel, inside width of this channel, is 3 3/4 inches. And then the distance between our vertical adjustment holes is one inch on center. Now you can mount any shocker hitch accessory, including their pintle hook, clevis pin, and other attachments in this channel to hook up even more trailers. Now of course, all of those attachments are sold separately, but you can find them under the related product section on this product page. So this hitch works like a teeter-totter with the airbag on one end and your trailer on the other end. And as your trailer exerts force downward the unit is going to pivot and the airbag is going to absorb the energy. So when your trailer jerks backward or pushes forward the two cushioned bump stops are going to help reduce the force for a smoother ride. Now this airbag is easily adjustable, and so we do have this air valve here with the included cap. And so for heavier loads, you're just going to add more air. And for lighter loads, you're going to let air out. To determine the correct amount of air to use, you're going to simply hook up your trailer, and then load the trailer the way that you are going to tow it. And then you're going to add air to the airbag until these bump stops begin to compress. Once they begin to compress, then you should have the right amount of air in the airbag for your load and you'll be ready to go. I do wanna point out here on the opposite side, we have a Zerk fitting at the pivot point that's going to make lubricating that pivot point very easy. So very easy maintenance overall. This is made here in the USA of grade 50 steel plate construction and a cold rolled steel shank to give you maximum durability. This is also shot-blasted and powder-coated to prevent rust. And again, our drawbar attachment is zinc-plated for corrosion resistance. The hitch pin hole diameter is 5/8 of an inch, and the pin and clip are sold separately. So if you do not already have a compatible pin and clip, that would be something that you would have to pick up separately. However, I look at this as an investment that you are making. So I would recommend taking a look at the infinite rule locking pins for the shocker hitch ball mounts for 2 inch and 2 1/2 inch hitches. You are going to get three locking pins, two to secure your attachment to your shocker hitch and then one to secure this entire unit to your trailer hitch receiver on the back of your vehicle. If you're interested in taking a look at those locking pins, I am including our item number on your screen for those pins. You just take that item number and put it in the search field of our website, and it will take you to those pins. Now some measurements to help you be confident that this is going to work for you. The distance from our first hitch pin hole to the center of the drawbar attachment hole, we're sitting at about 13 1/2 inches. And then the distance from the second hitch pin hole to the center of the drawbar attachment hole, we're sitting at about 14 1/2 inches. So again, from the first hitch pin hole, 13 1/2 inches. And from the second hitch pin hole, 14 1/2 inches. And then the distance from the second hitch pin hole to the end of our shank, we're sitting at about two and three quarters inches. And then the distance below the receiver tube, it's gonna be about five inches from the bottom of the receiver tube. Now just some additional insulation tips that you might find helpful. This does require a minimum of seven inches of clearance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the rearmost portion of your tow vehicle, and your receiver opening should be flush with the bumper or protruding from the rear of the vehicle for the best fit. Finally, a two-inch Shocker Air Receiver will not fit a 2 1/2 inch hitch, even with a reducer sleeve, as trucks with a 2 1/2 inch hitch have deeper frames and a 2 1/2 inch Shocker Air Receiver will fit a three-inch hitch with a reducer sleeve. Well, that's gonna conclude our look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
